WWW.SkiWalking.com Owner/Founder Recognized By Cross Country Skier Magazine

Pete Edwards, the Owner and Founder of www.SkiWalking.com LLC and the American Nordic Walking System, has been named a Nordic Walking Evangelist by Cross Country Skier Magazine.

The November 2011 issue of Cross Country Skier Magazine credits Edwards for being an outspoken advocate of proper Nordic walking technique and well-designed Nordic Walking Poles. Edwards bases his opinions on 30 years of coaching runners and skiers. Edwards knows what works best biomechanically for both running and skiing. As a certified Nordic walking instructor he then blended the best of walking, running, downhill skiing and cross country skiing into an effective and logical teaching system called the American Nordic Walking System. Edwards’ teaching system provides a variety of intensity and exertion levels allowing individuals of all ages and all fitness levels to zero in on the ideal option for their specific needs.

Logical instruction and quality poles are the keys to success according to Edwards. With over 10 million Europeans enjoying the many benefits of Nordic Walking it is only a matter of time before Americans of all ages and fitness levels catch on to this effective way to turbo charge the average walking campaign. Not only do properly fit Nordic Walking Poles help to burn more calories than regular walking they also help everyone to automatically walk with a super straight back – better walking posture is biomechanically a good thing. This improved walking posture when combined with the unique 4-Wheel-Drive type action of walking with poles helps to radically reduce the stress to the shins, knees, hips and back. Nordic Walking is low impact and yet provides a highly effective workout – burning more calories and working more muscle groups than regular walking.

Edwards claims that his 100% positive satisfaction ratings would be impossible to achieve if he compromised his believes and put credibility on inferior 2-piece and 3-piece collapsible poles equipped with cheap and flimsy twist-lock and flip-lock systems. Edwards hears daily from individuals that can’t get their new collapsible poles, purchased from other sources, to lock into place. Edwards is adamant about seniors and those with balance problems avoiding collapsible, adjustable length and telescoping poles. As any good ski coach knows one-piece poles will always prove to be safer, lighter and much more durable than 2-piece and 3-piece collapsible poles despite all the marketing hype touting their supposed benefits. In every situation quality one-piece poles that are sized correctly will prove superior – ask any downhill or cross country skier. Edwards also offers the largest size range of one-piece walking poles in North America.

Edwards receives thank you emails and thank you cards every day from happy customers. He has collected hundreds of amazing success stories. His SWIX and EXEL Nordic walking Poles are enabling thousands of his customers to walk more effectively and comfortably. Many of Edwards customers have replaced their canes and/or walkers with his one-piece Nordic walking poles. And during this holiday season Edwards is grateful he is able to help others to get out walking and lead healthier lives. He continues to donate hundreds of his quality Nordic walking poles to Wounded Warrior Programs at Walter Reed, Fort Lewis/Madigan/McChord, Fort Carson, Vicenza in Italy and Kaiserslautern Military Community in Germany.

According to Nick Mahood, SWIX USA Nordic Walking Director, ‘Pete Edwards, The American Nordic Walking System and SkiWalking.com’s owner/founder/coach, has single handedly introduced thousands of Americans to Nordic Walking through his enthusiastic Nordic walking clinics! I have no doubt that Edwards is the #1 retailer of Nordic walking poles in the USA! You can quote me on that!’
